FX week in review: FXCM sold, NAGA $8M injection, Devexperts CEO, cTrader broker plugins
FXCM, one of the oldest names in the online trading industry, was in the news this week for being sold not once but twice – first offloading its UK clients, and then again the rest of the company’s business being sold.
There were lots of other well-known broker names in the news – NAGA raising funds, Trading 212 revealing record Revenues, and several brokers reacting to IG’s not-so-good Q3 Trading Update, which sent shares of several publicly traded online brokers tumbling.
And of course there was a good dose of management moves in the sector, including a new CEO at Devexperts, a new CFO at AvaTrade, and some well known faces in new places.

Trading 212 revenues rise 70% in 2025 to £346M, profit tops £96M. After we reported earlier this year that its key FCA regulated UK subsidiary, Trading 212 UK Limited, had a fairly good 2025, it comes as no surprise that the overall Trading 212 group did very well for the year. Parent company Trading 212 Group Limited has reported its financial results for 2025, showing revenues of £345.8 million (USD $457 million), up by 70% from £204.0 million in 2024. Trading 212 group net profit came in at £96.4 million ($127 million) in 2025, versus less than half that, £44.1 million, the previous year.
cTrader opens multi-platform plugins to broker-owned services. Leading trading technology provider Spotware Systems has announced that Brokers and Prop Firms can now offer their own plugins – pre-installed in Spotware’s cTrader trading platform for existing clients, or listed in cTrader Store. Lord Peter Cruddas closes in on £5 million CMC Markets share purchase pledge. Well that didn’t take long. After pledging to acquire £5 million (USD $6.6 million) worth of shares in his own company, CMC Markets (LON:CMCX), last Friday, CMC controlling shareholder and CEO Lord Peter Cruddas closed in on that goal, buying another £3.7 million worth of CMC stock in the open market on Monday.
