Binance withdraws its MiCA application in Greece
Binance has provided an update on its MiCA licensing path in Europe, what it means for its users, and what happens next.
Binance has decided to withdraw its MiCA licence application with the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) in Greece and pursue authorization in another EU Member State.
Binance commented:
“Over many months, Binance worked constructively and in good faith with the HCMC. However, with no formal decision as the MiCA transition period comes to an end, we have taken the prudent decision to move forward in a way that gives users more clarity and allows us to continue pursuing a compliant, long-term path in Europe”.
Binance is in the process of contacting all of our EU users. Those communications will explain:
- whether any action is required
- what options may be available
- any relevant timelines
- where to go for support.
For now, Binance encourages its clients to:
- keep an eye on their email and in-app notifications for updates specific to their account
- review any communications Binance sends carefully
- contact customer support if they have questions about their options.
Please be cautious of scams: Binance will never contact you by phone. All communications will be sent through official Binance channels or by email. Binance will never ask for your password, 2FA codes, or private keys.
