Coincheck completes registration as Electronic Payment Instruments Service Provider
Coincheck, Inc,, today announced that it completed registration as an Electronic Payment Instruments Service Provider — the license required to handle stablecoins — on August 27, 2026.
With the completion of this registration as an Electronic Payment Instruments Service Provider, the company will begin rolling out its business initiatives in the stablecoin and on-chain finance sector.
Stablecoins are digital assets designed to maintain price stability by pegging their value to a fiat currency, and are expected to serve as a means of enabling fast, low-cost remittance and settlement around the clock, 365 days a year. In Japan and overseas, stablecoins are increasingly being adopted across a wide range of use cases, including payments, while traditional financial institutions such as banks are also expanding their entry into, or consideration of, stablecoin-related businesses.
