ICM.com becomes sleeve sponsor of Newcastle United FC
And now another!
Continuing a slew of forex sports sponsorships we’ve reported on over the past few weeks (see list below), London based Retail FX broker ICM.com has announced that it has inked a two-year deal to become the “sleeve sponsor” of English Premier League (EPL) team Newcastle United FC.
Newcastle placed 13th in the Premier League in 2019-20. The Premier League is the most-watched sports league in the world, broadcasted in 212 territories to 643 million homes and a potential TV audience of 4.7 billion people.
The two-year sponsorship covering the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons will feature the ICM.com logo on the shirt sleeves of Newcastle team jerseys, including appearances on the club’s digital perimeter boards, Jumbotron screen and post-match interview backdrops.
In addition to the EPL, the ICM logo will be sported at other high-profile games broadcasted globally, as Newcastle United FC will compete in this season’s Football Association Cup (FA Cup) in January 2021, the oldest national football competition in the world, and the English Football League (EFL) Cup.
The Newcastle United FC team has seen new additions this season including Mark Gillespie, Niall Brookwell, Jeff Hendrick, Ryan Fraser, Callum Wilson, and Jamal Lewis.
Commenting on the partnership, Shoaib Abedi, CEO and Founder of ICM.com said:
“ICM.com is proud to support Newcastle United FC on their journey and we look forward to seeing a strong performance this season. Together our partnership will bring both companies to a global audience through Football, the world’s most loved sport.”
Dale Aitchison, head of commercial at Newcastle United, said:
“I am delighted to welcome ICM.com to our growing roster of leading, forward-thinking partner brands. ICM.com is already an established name in the trading industry, with 20 global awards to its name. We look forward to building on that success together with campaigns, competitions and content that delivers value to our supporters.”
During its history, ICM.com signed some other sports sponsorship deals like the sponsorship of professional footballer Danny Collins from Nottingham Forest Football Club (NFFC) and the sponsorship of the London-based U.K. Premier League – Fulham FC, the oldest football club from London to play in the Football League.
As noted above, this deal marks the latest in a long line of Retail FX broker-European sports team sponsorship agreements to launch in the past few months, with most like this one being with top-league soccer teams. Other sponsorships we’ve reported on include Samtrade FX-Wolverhampton, Libertex-Tottenham, easyMarkets-Real Madrid (all non-jersey deals), alongside shirt/sleeve sponsors Samtrade FX-Cardiff City, eToro-AS Monaco, Plus500-Atalanta, Plus500-Legia Warsaw, Plus500-BSC Young Boys FC, and IC Markets-Inter Milan.
