Monex appoints Yuko Seimei as co-CEO
Based on a resolution of the Board of Directors, Monex Group, Inc (TYO:8698) announces the appointment of COO and CFO Yuko Seimei as co-CEO. Her appointment is effective April 1, 2022.
Yuko Seimei started her career at the Sanwa Bank, Ltd. (currently MUFG Bank, Ltd.) in April 2001. She moved to MKS Partners Ltd in December 2006. She joined Monex Hambrecht, Inc. in February 2009 (merged with Monex, Inc. in 2017) and became Representative Director of Monex Hambrecht, Inc. in June 2011.
She became Executive Director of Monex Group, Inc. in March 2013, Executive Officer of Monex Group, Inc. in February 2016, and the Representative Director and President of Monex, Inc. in February 2019. She was appointed Representative Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Monex Group, Inc. in January 2020 and Representative Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Monex Group, Inc. in January 2021.
She has served as a Member of the board, Representative Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Monex Group, Inc. since June 2021.
As announced on March 22, 2022, Monex aims to globalize its crypto asset business and increase profitability of the entire Group by making Coincheck Group B.V. public in the United States. To secure the success of this strategy, the Company’s CEO Oki Matsumoto will focus considerable resources and energy to this project harnessing his 22 years of experience leading a publicly listed company and his extensive network in the global capital markets.
Ever since current Representative Director Yuko Seimei joined the Company, she has played a pivotal role in establishing the investment business and successfully executed the Coincheck acquisition. She has also demonstrated exceptional management skills as president of Monex, Inc., and has records of accomplishment of executing businesses as COO/CFO of the listed company.
In recognition of her leadership qualities, strategic thinking, and ability of managing human resources, Yuko Seimei has been appointed as co-CEO while continuing to serve as CFO.
With the De-SPAC ushering the crypto asset business’s second phase of growth, the company has decided to split the role of CEO into two functions. Oki Matsumoto, as CEO, will lead the crypto asset business and new businesses and oversee the asset management business, while Yuko Seimei will manage the global online brokerage business as co-CEO.
