HKEX Board approves renewal of employment contract of CEO Bonnie Y Chan
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced today that the HKEX Board of Directors has approved the renewal of the employment contract of HKEX Chief Executive Officer, Bonnie Y Chan, for a further three-year term from 1 March 2027 to 28 February 2030, inclusive.
Pursuant to Section 70(1) of the Securities and Futures Ordinance, the appointment of Ms Chan has been approved by the Securities and Futures Commission.
HKEX Chairman, Carlson Tong, said:

Since becoming CEO in early 2024, Bonnie has led HKEX Group with vision, purpose and distinction. Her commitment to strengthening Hong Kong’s role as a leading international financial centre, together with her vision for building a vibrant multi-asset ecosystem that connects capital and opportunities between China and the world, has helped position HKEX for long-term growth and success.

Under the terms of her employment contract for the reappointment, Ms Chan’s compensation package includes a basic salary of HK$12 million per annum. She is eligible to receive a performance-related discretionary bonus and share awards to be recommended by the Remuneration Committee and approved by the Board.
As a full-time employee, she is also entitled to other benefits in kind and to participate in HKEX’s provident funds. This compensation package is determined having given consideration to the level of responsibility, experience and abilities required of the Chief Executive and the remuneration offered for similar positions in the financial industry.
Ms Chan has declared that she holds 68,479 HKEX shares and is also interested in 164,546 HKEX shares (within the meaning of Part XV of the SFO), which remain unvested under the Employees’ Share Award Scheme of HKEX.
