OANDA Japan to implement passkey authentication
OANDA Japan Inc, a subsidiary of online broker OANDA Corporation, is introducing passkey authentication for its customers.
The brokerage explained that the move was due to the recent increase in the number of victims of phishing scams and credential stuffing attacks. In light of this situation, the Japanese Financial Services Agency revised and implemented the “Guidelines for Preventing Unauthorized Access to Internet Transactions” on October 15, 2025.
To comply with these guidelines and to provide a safer and more comfortable trading environment for its customers’ valuable assets and information, OANDA Japan will introduce “Passkey (FIDO2 compatible) authentication” from June 18, 2026 (Thursday).
Setting up passkey authentication will initially be optional, but will be gradually made mandatory.
The broker advises its clients to switch to passkey authentication as soon as possible.
Passkey authentication is a new login method that does not use passwords, utilizing fingerprint/facial recognition or PIN codes on smartphones and PCs.
The services to which passkeys will apply include: Login to My Page, fxTrade, and TradingView.
