OANDA Japan implements transaction restrictions on accounts of customers affected by unauthorized access
Forex broker OANDA Japan Inc today published an update regarding the unauthorized access to “Onanae.com Desktop Cloud”.
OANDA Japan has recently confirmed that unauthorized access, unauthorized login, and unauthorized transactions were carried out in the accounts of some of its customers by a third party using an ID/password combination that may have been leaked from an external party.
OANDA Japan has implemented transaction restrictions on the accounts of customers who may have been affected by unauthorized access to prevent further damage.
At this time, the brokerage has not confirmed any unauthorized access to or information leaks from its core systems.
The brokerage believes that this incident was caused by the leakage of login information stored on an external VPS, which was used to illegally log in.
In order to protect its clients’ valuable trading environment and assets, OANDA Japan asks its clients to implement the following security measures as soon as possible:
- Change password for My Page and trading platform (MT4/MT5, etc.)
- Setting up two-factor authentication (2FA) for MT4/MT5
- To increase the security of My Page login, the broker recommends setting a passkey.
- Check transaction history, etc.
