ACCC grants authorisation for multi-bank regional ATM trial
On 16 September 2026, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) released a determination granting authorisation to enable the Australian Banking Association and other financial institutions to conduct a trial of multi-bank regional ATMs.
Under the trial, anyone with an Australian-issued card will be able to withdraw cash on a fee-free basis from the relevant regional ATMs. Customers of the participating banks will also be able to make fee-free cash deposits at relevant ATMs once the relevant functionality is available.
The ACCC has granted authorisation for three years, until 9 October 2029.
