Exclusive: Former Capital.com CEO Jon Squires joins Skilling
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that CySEC licensed Retail FX and CFDs broker Skilling is continuing its senior executive hiring spree, with the latest addition being former Capital.com / Currency.com CEO Jon Squires.
Jon Squires is joining Skilling as its new Executive Chairman, and thus will form a new two-person leadership team at the company with current Skilling CEO Michael Kamerman, a former FXCM UK executive who joined Skilling in 2020. Jon Squires left Capital.com earlier this year, as was also exclusively reported at the time here at FNG, after the company was able to nab former IG Group CEO Peter Hetherington to run the company. Prior to joining Skilling in 2019 he was Chief Digital Officer at Exness.
Other recent hires by Skilling include COO and Cyprus office head Daniela Egli, who was formerly FXview Managing Director, and CMO David Hodge, formerly CEO of OANDA UK. Earlier this year Skilling raised €10 million from Scandinavian investors.
Skilling CEO Michael Kamerman commented:
“Jon’s appointment as Executive Chairman is incredibly exciting for Skilling. His impact in previous firms where he worked has helped to swiftly propel the companies from relative newcomers to industry titans. We are confident that with an exceptional product and talented people, Skilling will be the next industry leader to benefit from Jon’s expertise. We welcome him and look forward to his involvement in our company.”
Jon Squires added:
“It is the perfect time to be joining Skilling at this stage of its expansion. The company has been built and led by a highly experienced team, and their foresight into new trends and product scalability gives Skilling an unparalleled advantage. I’m very much looking forward to working with Michael and the team as they accelerate their growth globally.”
Skilling was founded in 2016 by former Betsafe CEO André Lavold. While operating under a Cyprus CySEC license the company is managed from several locations including the southern Spanish resort town of Marbella where Mr. Kamerman is based, Cyprus, and London.
