Skilling hires FXCM vet Michael Kamerman as CEO
Following up on our exclusive report from August that longtime FXCM Managing Director and effective #2 Michael Kamerman had resigned, we have learned that he has resurfaced as the new CEO of Retail FX broker Skilling.
Skilling was founded in 2016 by former Betsafe CEO André Lavold, who has been CEO since, so adding Mr. Kamerman will relieve Mr. Lavold of some of his day to day duties at the company. The company operates a CySEC-licensed subsidiary in Cyprus, Skilling Ltd., and also an offshore entity in Seychelles, Skilling (Seychelles) Ltd. The company recently became a (non-shirt) sponsor of Premier League football club Aston Villa, and of global chess superstar Magnus Carlsen.
Mr. Kamerman commented on his new role,
“The combination of talent and ambition is a powerful thing, which is why I joined Skilling. I look forward to contributing to the growth of the team and leading the Group into a new stage of strategic development.”
Co-founder of Skilling and previous CEO André Lavold has said,
“The appointment of a new CEO is something we did with the utmost care ensuring that the person not only has the experience but also is a great culture fit. We are very excited to have Michael on board. His extensive experience and vision for Skilling has continually impressed us.”
The company noted that Mr. Lavold will remain actively involved in the business while Mr. Kamerman transitions into the new role effective immediately.
Skilling was established in 2016 by Optimizer Invest, which is an investment company started by the Norwegian and Swedish tech entrepreneurs André Lavold, Henrik Persson Ekdahl and Mikael Riese Harstad. Skilling offers online trading on a wide range of world markets such as Norwegian or international stocks like Equinor or Tesla, stock indices such as Nasdaq or OBX, gold, oil, or cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. Skilling said that its vision is to make trading interesting and accessible to everyone, in a transparent and secure way.
