CME Group fines BofA Securities for alleged violations of CBOT rules
International derivatives marketplace CME Group has issued a notice of disciplinary action against BofA Securities, Inc (BofAS).
Pursuant to an offer of settlement in which BofAS neither admitted nor denied the rule violation or factual finding upon which the penalty is based, a Panel of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT)
Business Conduct Committee found that BofAS, due to high market volatility and volume-related system backlogs beginning on April 7, 2025, followed by subsequent data validation and reconciliation issues that involved problematic coding and incorrect matching, did not maintain current books and records for the period of approximately April 7, 2025, through June 26, 2025.
Additionally, for one business day, BofAS failed to meet the compliance calculation requirement for non-cross-margin segregation, resulting in a deficiency as of April 7, 2025.
The Panel concluded that BofAS thereby violated CBOT Rules 971.A. and 980.A.
In accordance with the settlement offer, the Panel ordered BofAS to pay a $75,000 fine.
