Sentencing of Ponzi scammer Renwick Haddow postponed until April 2024
The sentencing of Ponzi scammer Renwick Haddow has been postponed until April 19, 2024. The new date was set by Judge Laura Taylor Swain of the New York Southern District Court in response to a request by the US Government.
The Government has extradited from Spain co-conspirator David Kennedy, and is in the process of extraditing co-conspirator James Robinson. On October 13, 2023, Kennedy pleaded guilty pursuant to a plea agreement. Kennedy’s sentencing is scheduled for January 31, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. before the Honorable Lewis A. Kaplan.
The Government’s investigation remains ongoing and the Government’s continuing efforts to recover funds for victims domestically and abroad. The defendant’s active cooperation is expected to continue for the next six months.
Renwick Haddow pleaded guilty on May 23, 2019, to one count each of wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy relating to the Bar Works scheme, and one count each of wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy relating to the Bitcoin Store scheme – a separate investment scheme involving Bitcoins.
Haddow was charged by Complaint in June 2017 for engaging in schemes to defraud victims by making material misrepresentations and misappropriating investment funds in Bitcoin Store and Bar Works Inc, as well as related entities he controlled.
From November 2014 through June 2017, Haddow solicited investments in start-up companies he created and controlled, including Bitcoin Store – a purported online platform for purchasing, selling, and storing the digital currency known as “Bitcoin” – and Bar Works, which purports to be a company that adapts former restaurants, bar premises, and other locations into co-working spaces. When doing so, Haddow made material misrepresentations about, among other things, the management, operations, and historical performance of those companies.
In July 2017, Haddow was arrested in Morocco on the basis of a provisional arrest warrant for participating in these schemes.

Is there any more recent news on this matter? I am one of the victims and the only news we seem to get is that Haddows accomplices sentences seem to be getting reduced Please help with any new information you have on Haddow, his sentencing and any possibilities of funds being paid back to his victims. Any news would be very much appreciated as I’m struggling to figure out where to look. Thanks

Media do not affect Court procedures. Nor do we write news based on anyone’s wishes. There is no sentence against Haddow in this case yet. Would you like me to lie to you in order to please you? Or would you like to know the truth even if it’s blunt and painful?

What an odd response. He was only asking if there was any more news. The case has been ongoing for a long time now and it must be frustrating for those who have lost money. How have you taken such offence and responded so curtly? Very strange!

Haddow may be a scammer but he is innocent until proven otherwise. He is co-operating with the authorities and his sentencing is continued. The article is up-to-date. If you want fast and easy news, you may fall into the same trap as going for fast and easy money. You seem to be looking for lies and fraud. Good luck with that.

He pleaded guilty?? So not that innocent!

🙂 My point was that Haddow can get away with it. All victims of fraud, unfortunately, have to be prepared for the option not to get their money back. The legal system is often unfair, it’s boring, slow and brutal. But let’s wait until April 2024 (unless there is further delay). The Court will not expedite a ruling due to my or your agenda. Be safe.
