Poland based Retail FX and CFDs brokerage house X Trade Brokers Dom Maklerski SA – operator of the XTB.com and X Open Hub brands – has leaped into the world of forex sports sponsorships, signing legendary Portuguese soccer coach José Mourinho as a brand ambassador for XTB.com.

José Mourinho is currently the manager of English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. (Ironically, Cyprus based Retail FX and CFDs broker Libertex has announced a multi-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur, which will see Libertex become the club’s Official Trading Partner). He is widely regarded as one of the greatest managers of all time in European football, having led four teams in four different countries to their respective league championships, in addition to winning UEFA Champions League titles with his native FC Porto and with Manchester United.

The company noted that it will start a promotional campaign called Be like José around its new ambassador, and released the following video:

The move comes at an interesting time for XTB. After a very strong Q1 which saw its shares hit an all-time high of PLN 29.30, subdued Q2 results announced in July led to a 31% decline in XTB’s share price, which has continued to slide ever since. This morning’s announcement precipitated a 7% rise in XTB shares.
