IG Japan to make 2FA mandatory
IG Securities, the Japanese subsidiary of electronic trading major IG Group, will make two-factor authentication (2FA) mandatory for its clients.
The broker blamed the new requirement on the recent rise of unauthorized access to securities accounts due to phishing scams and other fraudulent activities across the industry.
IG Japan will be making two-factor authentication (2FA), which was previously optional, mandatory effective June 2026.
Customers who have not yet set it up will not be able to log in after it becomes mandatory. The broker anticipates a high volume of inquiries to its support team immediately before and after the mandatory implementation. To ensure smooth service, traders are advised set 2FA up as soon as possible.
For those who have already set up 2FA, no action is required.
The traders who have not yet set it up, will need to:
- Install Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator on their smartphone.
- Enable two-factor authentication from the settings screen of the IG trading app.
