Exclusive: Samtrade FX becomes back-of-shirt sponsor for Cardiff City
FNG Exclusive… Let’s call this the month of Forex sports sponsorships. And in particular, European football.
FNG has learned that yet another Retail FX broker will be shelling out (reasonably) big bucks to have its logo displayed across the jersey of a known football club. Singapore based Samtrade FX has inked a deal to become the “Official Global FX Trading Partner” of Welsh football club Cardiff City. Cardiff City plays in the UK’s second-tier Championship league.
The deal is a two season sponsorship covering the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. As a part of the agreement the Samtrade FX logo will feature on the back of the Bluebirds’ First Team shirts. It will also get time on stadium big screens and pitch side LEDs during Cardiff City matches.
We expect both parties to formally announce the deal shortly.
Cardiff City’s front-of-shirt sponsor is Malaysia’s travel authority, which displays “Malaysia Berjaya” on the Bluebirds’ jerseys. (The team’s owner is Malaysian business tycoon Victor Tan).
Cardiff City FC CEO and Executive Director Ken Choo said:
“We’re thrilled to be working with Samtrade FX. The company has built up a proud reputation in its field across the world since being founded in 2015.
We would like to thank them for choosing to partner with the Bluebirds and very much look forward to welcoming them to Cardiff City Stadium in the near future.”
Samtrade FX founder and Chief Executive Officer, Sam Goh, added:
“We were motivated to partner with Cardiff City FC due to our common vision and ethos – a passion for excellence and innovation. By partnering with a football club, we are also hopeful that our first sporting sponsorship will bring about unique experiences for our clients, partners and supporters around the world.”
FNG exclusively reported in July that Samtrade FX recently received licenses in the UK (FCA, as an Appointed Representative) and also in Australia (ASIC). Samtrade is based in and has been run (mainly) from Singapore, but had operated until now as an offshore broker domiciled Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Other recent sports sponsorships we have recently reported on by Retail FX brokers include eToro-AS Monaco (sleeve sponsorship), Plus500-Atalanta and Plus500-Legia Warsaw (both front-of-shirt sponsorships), and IC Markets-Inter Milan (sleeve sponsorship), which has yet to be formally unveiled but was reported exclusively at FNG.
