Dukascopy Japan updates on unauthorized access to Onamae.com Desktop Cloud
Dukascopy Japan today issued a notice to its clients regarding the unauthorized access to “Onamae.com Desktop Cloud” that the brokerage previously reported.
The broker has confirmed unauthorized transactions in some FX trading accounts. It has also confirmed unauthorized transactions in the accounts of customers who were using “Onamae.com Desktop Cloud.” Dukascopy Japan is currently working with the GMO Internet Group to understand the situation and take measures to prevent further damage.
At this time, Dukascopy Japan has not confirmed any unauthorized access by third parties to its trading system itself, nor any information leakage from its system.
The brokerage has taken action, including changing login passwords for accounts of customers using the “Onamae.com Desktop Cloud” service who are suspected of having experienced unauthorized logins.
Dukascopy Japan asks that customers who were using the “Onamae.com Desktop Cloud” service take the following actions:
(1) Please perform a virus check (full scan) on your own device.
(2) Please back up your important data.
(3) Changing your login password will terminate your existing login session on Dukascopy Japan’s system. However, as a precaution, please log out again on each of your devices. (Please perform this operation from another secure device, such as a smartphone or another PC.)
(4) Please check for any suspicious linked apps, email forwarding settings, browser extensions, etc. If you find anything you do not recognize, please disable or delete it as necessary. (Please perform the operation from a separate, secure device, such as a smartphone or a separate PC.)
The GMO Internet Group has made clear its policy of not complying with any demands from attackers. This is because even if you comply with a demand, there is no guarantee that the acquired information will be deleted or that its misuse will be prevented.
