Exclusive: ex SafeCharge CEO David Avgi launches new ePayments venture UNIPaaS
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that longtime SafeCharge CEO David Avgi has launched a new venture in the online payments technology space called UNIPaaS.
UNIPaaS describes itself as a global, cloud-based fintech platform designed to respond to the diverse payment needs of its clients’ growing businesses. The company delivers secure, reliable and compliant ‘as a service’ solutions to scaling digital platforms and merchants. The UNIPaaS solution provides businesses with flexible pay-in/pay-out options both locally and globally. This lets clients drive up your margins while sparing them from dealing with technical and regulatory hurdles. The company will provide white label solutions for growing Marketplaces, Gig Economies, eCommerce, Scalable Platforms, in B2B and B2B2C.
The firm has established offices in both Tel Aviv and London, and is busy recruiting in both locations.
Mr. Avgi (seated center above) has already recruited a number of his former key employees from SafeCharge to join him in setting up UNIPaaS. These include Oded Kovach (seated right above), UNIPaaS CTO who was CTO of SafeCharge from 2013-2018, and Limor Liberman (standing above), UNIPasS COO who spent 11 years at SafeCharge in various roles including Chief Customer Success Officer, VP Technical Operation, Delivery & QA, and Director Of Quality Assurance. The company’s CFO is Tsach Einav (seated left above), who was CFO of SafeCharge from 2006-2019.
SafeCharge began life within online gaming entrepreneur Teddy Sagi’s empire before being spun off as its own publicly traded company. SafeCharge was acquired by Canadian payments technology provider Nuvei in 2019 for $889 million, after which Mr. Avgi and much of his senior management team left the company.
UNIPasS said it provides an end-to-end payments platform, provided as a service. This will cover client onboarding, global pay in processing covering a wide variety of payment types ranging from bank transfers to e-wallets to cards to mobile wallets and cash, and dynamic payout with clients receiving funds within minutes of clearing, rather than working to conventional banking timescales.
Mr. Avgi posted the following note this morning on social media:
