SBI Security Solutions changes its name to SBI Digital Practice
SBI Holdings, Inc. today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, SBI Security Solutions Co., Ltd., changed its company name to “SBI Digital Practice Co., Ltd.”
In conjunction with the name change, the company has also renewed its management structure and transitioned to a business structure focused on Canton Network, a public blockchain for financial institutions.
Since the inception of Canton Network, the SBI Group has participated as a “Super Validator,” a core role responsible for approving and managing transactions on the network, and has worked to promote participation by institutional investors and expand the ecosystem.
SBI Digital Practice Co., Ltd. will serve as a dedicated company responsible for driving these initiatives and aims to build an environment that enables financial institutions in Japan and other markets to participate in on-chain finance in compliance with applicable regulations. Specifically, the company will provide end-to-end support, ranging from the planning and development of financial infrastructure and applications on Canton Network to implementation support for financial institutions in Japan and overseas, as well as the development of transaction infrastructure that crosses national borders and currencies.
Canton Network currently has more than 600 participating institutions, including major financial institutions and financial infrastructure providers such as Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas, Broadridge, Franklin Templeton, and Euroclear. The scale of assets managed on the blockchain has expanded to more than USD 6 trillion.
In addition, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), the central clearinghouse for the U.S. securities market, has adopted Canton Network for the digital securitization of U.S. Treasuries, reflecting the accelerating digitalization of traditional financial assets. Against this market backdrop, demand for institutional transaction infrastructure on Canton Network is expected to continue to grow.
