SBI Holdings to make additional investment in Fasset
SBI Holdings, Inc. today announced that it has decided to make an additional investment in Fasset, a company that operates a global platform for stablecoin settlement and crypto-asset trading.
The corporate value of Fasset, calculated on the basis of the acquisition price of the shares subject to this additional investment, amounts to USD 1 billion.
The SBI Group positions the global expansion of financial services built on digital assets as one of its key growth strategies, and is working to establish an international distribution network for digital assets. As part of this initiative, the Company made a strategic investment in Fasset in May 2026, and as the first step of the collaboration arising from that investment, the Company’s subsidiary SBI Remit Co., Ltd., which is engaged in the international remittance service business, entered into a memorandum of understanding with Fasset toward the development of next-generation international remittance infrastructure.
Fasset is a digital asset company that provides remittance, settlement and investment services utilizing stablecoins, primarily across Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Through its proprietary settlement infrastructure “Own Network,” Fasset connects 16 blockchain networks and more than 100 banking corridors, and holds more than 3 million wallets across 125 countries and regions. SBI has decided to make this additional investment in order to further strengthen its capital relationship with Fasset and to render the business collaboration between the two companies more effective.
In addition to the interest to be acquired through this additional investment, the Company plans to make Fasset an equity-method affiliate through further acquisitions of interests going forward. The Company also plans to jointly operate a digital bank in Malaysia with Fasset, and to jointly distribute tokens to be issued by Fasset.
In emerging countries across Asia, the Middle East and Africa, a large number of individuals and businesses still do not hold bank accounts or have sufficient access to financial services, while the penetration rate of mobile devices is high and there is considerable room for growth in digital banking. By combining the knowledge cultivated through the operation of financial services such as banking, securities and insurance in Japan with Fasset’s stablecoin settlement infrastructure, the SBI Group will contribute to the realization of financial inclusion in these regions.
