Sir Michael Snyder to step down as Director of Metro Bank
Metro Bank today announced that Sir Michael Snyder will step down as Senior Independent Director and Non-Executive Director of Metro Bank plc, effective as of 31 October 2021.

Sir Michael has been a Non-Executive Director at Metro Bank since 2015 and served as interim Chairman between October 2019 and November 2020. During his tenure as interim Chairman the Bank appointed a new permanent CEO, strengthened the Board, improved gender diversity, announced a new strategy, and instigated the response to COVID-19.
As a result of his departure, Monique Melis will become the Bank’s Senior Independent Director, effective 31 October 2021, subject to regulatory approval. Following her appointment as Senior Independent Director, Monique Melis will be replaced by the Board Chairman, Robert Sharpe, as Chair of the Nomination Committee, subject to regulatory approval.
She has been a member of the Board since July 2017 and served as interim Senior Independent Director while Sir Michael served as interim Chairman.
Following the departure of Sir Michael Snyder, the Board will comprise nine Non-Executive Directors, all of whom are independent, and two Executive Directors.
