The London Metal Exchange (LME) today announced that John Williamson will continue in his role as Chairman of the Board, following the completion of his initial term.

Commenting on the appointment renewal, John Williamson said:

Over the past three years, the Exchange has navigated a period of significant change and transformation, and I am proud of the progress made by the LME team as we turned strategy into delivery and strengthened our foundations for the future.

“It has been a privilege to work closely with the Board and the executive team, whose commitment and expertise continue to underpin the LME’s success. In an increasingly dynamic macroeconomic environment, the role of trusted market infrastructure and resilient price discovery is more important than ever. I look forward to supporting the Exchange as it builds on its strengths, continues to evolve its market and ensures it remains competitive, vibrant and relevant for members and customers around the world.”

John Williamson is Chairman of London Metal Exchange, Chairman of Commodity Pricing and Analysis Limited, Chairman of UK Tote Group, Non-Executive Director of Pacific Basin Shipping Limited and Independent Commissioner for PT Merdeka Gold Resources. He is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Fellow of the CISI, and Senior Fellow of the Hong Kong Securities Institute.

He previously served on the Boards of HKEX and Hong Kong Securities Institute, and held senior executive roles with Search Investment Group, Morgan Stanley, NatWest Securities and Wood Mackenzie & Co.

Mr Williamson is an Advisor to the Board of Mind HK, a mental health charity.
