Chris Lynch to step down from Westpac Board
Westpac Banking Corporation today announced that Chris Lynch has decided not to stand for re-election as an Independent Non-executive Director at Westpac’s 2023 Annual General Meeting (2023 AGM). He will step down from the Board effective from the end of the AGM on 14 December 2023.
Mr. Lynch joined the Board in September 2020 and in that time has served on the Audit, Remuneration and Risk Committees.
Mr. Lynch said:

Mr Lynch was formerly the Global Chief Financial Officer of Rio Tinto Group, based in London, and an Executive Director. Prior to this, he was a Non-executive Director of Rio Tinto Group.
Mr Lynch was the Chief Executive Officer of Transurban Group, an international toll road developer and manager with interests in Australia and North America from 2008 to 2012. His executive career also included seven years at BHP Billiton where he was Chief Financial Officer and then Executive Director and Group President – Carbon Steel Materials.
He spent 20 years with Alcoa Inc. where he held a number of executive positions, including Vice-President and Chief Information Officer based in Pittsburgh, USA and Chief Financial Officer of Alcoa Europe in Switzerland. He was also managing director of KAAL Australia Limited, a joint venture company formed by Alcoa and Kobe Steel.
Chris Lynch was formerly a Commissioner of the Australian Football League from 2008 until 2014.
