MOEX to suspend JPY trading
Effective August 8, 2022, Moscow Exchange (MOEX) will suspend trading in Japanese yen (JPY) on its FX market.
The restrictions will apply to spot and swap instruments based on the JPY/RUB and USD/JPY currency pairs. The suspension will apply to both on-exchange and off-exchange mode trading.
Also, effective August 8, 2022, MOEX will not accept JPY as collateral for market operations.
The Exchange explains that the suspension is due to potential risks and difficulties in conducting settlements in JPY.
MOEX says that it will meet its obligations on all existing trades in the above-mentioned instruments, as well as on the trades placed before August 5, 2022 in a regular manner.
The Exchange says it will take all necessary actions to resume JPY trading in the future.
