Cboe Futures Exchange to introduce 10 Gb Layer 1 Physical Ports
On April 3, Cboe Futures Exchange (CFE) will introduce 10 Gb Layer 1 (L1) Physical Ports as an optional service to allow for lower latency on CFE Depth (PITCH) market data delivery.
CFE 10 Gb L1 Physical Ports are 10 gigabit per second ports that provide connectivity solely to the CFE PITCH market data feed. CFE 10 Gb L1 Physical Ports do not provide connectivity to the CFE TOP market data feed and do not provide access to CFE’s trading system for the entry of orders or quotes.
On the effective date, CFE 10 Gb L1 Physical Ports will be introduced as an optional service that CFE expects to allow for between 2-4 microseconds of lower latency on PITCH market data delivery. A maximum of four 10 Gb L1 Physical Ports will be available per firm per L1 network device.
CFE Trading Privilege Holders (TPHs) and others can begin requesting CFE 10 Gb L1 Physical Ports on March 1, 2022. The “Physical Port Request Tool” within the Cboe Customer Web Portal will be used to establish CFE 10 Gb L1 Physical Ports. Users currently enabled to use the tool will find it located under the Member Tools menu on the left-hand side of the page.
To convert one or more 10 Gb L3 Physical Ports to 10 Gb L1 Physical Ports, a conversion request must be made in writing to the Cboe NOC. Once a firm has converted to a 10 Gb L1 Physical Port, the firm would need to place an order for a new cross connect to move back to a 10 Gb L3 Physical Port if desired.
TPHs and others can begin subscribing to the new CFE 10 Gb L1 Physical Ports on March 1, 2022. The ports will receive CFE certification market data commencing on March 13, 2022 and will receive CFE certification market data until the production release date.
