eToro to support airdrop of new LUNA tokens to existing LUNC holders
Online broker eToro announces that eligible $LUNC token holders will receive the new LUNA tokens via airdrop on Tuesday, June 7th 2022.
Following the recent collapse of Luna (now known as Luna Classic $LUNC), the Terra community voted on a recovery plan. The plan included the creation of a new blockchain (Terra 2.0) and the airdrop of new Luna tokens.
As an eligible $LUNC token holder, you will receive the new LUNA tokens, provided that:
- Your eToro account has a positive balance
- Your eligible quantity of the new $LUNA tokens total more than one USD, and,
- Regulatory issues do not prevent you from receiving the new Luna tokens. (i.e. countries where eToro does not offer crypto, or limited/blocked accounts).
If you do not meet one of the above criteria, you will receive the USD equivalent of the $LUNA tokens directly into your eToro account balance. If you held LUNC tokens at the time of the snapshots, you are eligible to receive the new Luna tokens.
The quantity of $LUNA tokens that an eligible user receives is determined by the number of $LUNC tokens they held during the pre-attack / post-attack timing snapshots. There could be tax implications from receiving these tokens.
For the time being, $LUNA will be listed on the eToro investment platform as “close-only”. “Close-only” means that no new positions can be opened, however, it will still be possible to manage existing ones.
eToro notes the risk that the value of $LUNA could drop similarly again, as a result of blockchain forks, depreciation, or failures in execution.
