Capital.com hires Chris Spenceley as CMO
Leading online brokerage firm Capital.com has announced that it has hired Chris Spenceley as the company’s new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Chris Spenceley, who is based in London, replaces longtime Capital.com executive Nikolaj Markovnik in the role as CMO. Nikolaj had been with Capital.com since 2016, and also served in the management of the group’s FCA regulated UK arm, Capital Com (UK) Limited.
Chris Spenceley comes to Capital.com from outside “the industry”, but with plenty of both online and offline marketing experience. He spent the past nine years at ad agency Ogilvy, as Managing Partner of Ogilvy UK.
Chris’ hiring also marks the second major C-Suite management change at Capital.com this month, after the company appointed Mamoon Sbeih as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO).
Capital.com put out the following note on social media regarding Chris’ hiring.
We’re pleased to welcome Chris Spenceley to Capital.com as Chief Marketing Officer.
He brings three decades of agency experience, with senior roles at Grey and TBWA, before spending almost a decade at Ogilvy as Managing Partner.
Chris steps into the role of CMO as Capital.com deepens its reach in existing markets and expands into new ones, following a redesign of our trading app, and a new brand position that reflects who we are today.
Going forward, he will shape how Capital.com shows up to clients, from positioning to campaigns to creative direction. Pairing flair with rigour, he’ll turn that expression into a consistent standard, helping us deliver on our promise: built for better decisions.
Welcome, Chris.
