Saxo Bank set to launch China’s Little Giants equity theme basket
Multi-asset investment company Saxo Bank plans another addition to its menu of equity theme baskets. Peter Garnry, Saxo’s Head of Equity Strategy, has announced that the company has an interesting equity theme basket coming out this week: China’s Little Giants.
These companies represent companies that the Chinese government says represent important technology vectors for the country. They offer a different exposure than Alibaba et. al.
China’s Little Giants sit inside the ‘self-reliance’ framework and represent those areas of the economy that will get financing and regulatory help from the government.
Saxo regularly updates its lineup of equity themes. Last week, Saxo Bank introduced an equity theme basket focusing on women leadership. The basket consists of 30 companies with 10 companies each from North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific (developed countries). Companies with a market value below $5bn have been excluded from the list. The average percentage of women in executive leadership across the three geographical areas is 63.2% (North America), 52.9% (Europe), and 59.7% (Asia Pacific).
Recent additions also include a payments theme basket and a 3D printing basket.
