Robinhood UK gets crypto license nod
While no formal announcement has been made about the launch of services, US neobroker Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD) is now cleared for offering retail trading activity in crypto to UK clients. Robinhood UK’s FCA license has been updated, as of July 31, 2026, to now include:
Arranging or making arrangements (including receiving and transmitting orders) with a view to the execution of transactions in cryptoassets and money.
Robinhood UK now also appears on the FCA’s list of Registered and Formerly Registered Cryptoasset firms, as the newest entrant on the list.
We had reported back at the beginning of July that Robinhood was planning a fairly strong international expansion push in the second half of 2026, with specific projects including launching UK crypto, EU perps, and a Canada launch.
Robinhood has been fairly active already in the UK market, adding over the past year stocks & shares ISA, and futures trading. Its pending addition of crypto in the UK comes at an interesting time, when crypto is becoming a less important part of Robinhood’s overall portfolio.
Once viewed largely as a crypto broker, with its share price moving up or down more or less in step with Bitcoin and Ethereum, Robinhood reported record results for Q2 2026 all while crypto related Revenues shrunk significantly. In Q2 Robinhood’s Revenues from its newest hot product, Prediction Markets, far outpaced crypto Revenues, $156 million versus $100 million, respectively.
