Japanese broker Rakuten Securities to enable after-hours trading for US stocks
Japanese Forex, CFD and stock broker Rakuten Securities Inc will begin offering after-hours (pre-market) trading for US stocks starting Monday, January 26, 2026.
This means clients of the broker can trade US stocks while monitoring stock prices, starting at 6:00 PM Japan Time, without having to wait until nightfall.
US stocks will be available for trading from 6:00 PM Japan Time (winter time), allowing for up to 12 hours of trading, including regular market hours. When major news is announced during Asian trading hours, traders can respond quickly to stock price fluctuations and expand investment opportunities.
For US stock margin trading, margin requirements and new opening capacity will be calculated using the lower of real-time current prices, including pre-market and after-market stock prices, or the previous day’s closing price.
However, additional margin requirements (margin calls) will be determined using the regular market closing price, as before. Furthermore, stop losses will also be determined only during the regular market (11:30 PM to 6:00 AM the following day; the start and end times will be moved forward by one hour during daylight saving time).
