eToro launches InsuranceWorld portfolio
Online broker eToro today announced the launch of InsuranceWorld, a portfolio offering retail investors long-term exposure to the insurance sector.
Whilst eToro users can already trade and invest in more than 100 insurance companies on the platform, the new portfolio will simplify the process of gaining diversified exposure across the sector.
“Shares of insurance companies can be a valuable addition to an investment portfolio due to the stable nature of the industry and coverage across a multitude of sectors. The industry has shown itself to be more resilient than others when it comes to economic and market volatility, making it a worthwhile defensive investment play,” explained Dani Brinker, Head of Investment Portfolios at eToro.
“This new portfolio offers users a carefully selected mix of top-performing insurance companies, giving them the opportunity to invest in a growing and steady industry that is expected to reach a market size of $8.3 trillion by 2026.”
To create the portfolio, eToro’s team of investment experts handpicked the leading 35 insurance companies across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific, taking into consideration several factors, including market capitalization, liquidity parameters, analyst ratings and coverage. The portfolio will be rebalanced on an annual basis.
InsuranceWorld is a new addition to eToro’s existing offering of portfolios, which already provides exposure to traditional financial sectors such as Private Equity, The Big Banks, Real Estate Trusts.
eToro’s Smart Portfolios offer investors exposure to various market themes. Bundling together several assets under a defined methodology, and employing a passive investment approach, eToro’s Smart Portfolios are long-term investment solutions that offer diversified exposure with no management fees.
Initial investment starts from USD$500 and investors can access tools and charts to track the portfolio’s performance, while eToro’s social feed will keep them up-to-date on developments in the sector. For now, this portfolio is not available to US users.
