Capital.com acquires FxPro European client book
Consolidation is certainly the order of the day in the Retail FX and CFDs industry.
Following last week’s sale of FXCM UK to Trade Nation and then the acquisition of the rest of the retail brokerage business of FXCM by AvaTrade, Capital.com has announced that it has agreed to buy the European client book of FxPro.
Capital.com itself is no stranger to acquisitions, having bought the client book of OvalX (formerly known as ETX Capital) back in 2023.
FxPro
FxPro is one of the “original” Cyprus based CFD brokers, controlled by co-founder Denis Sukhotin. The company still operates mainly from its headquarters in the hills of Ypsonas overlooking Limassol. However much of FxPro’s focus in recent years has been outside the EU, in faster growing regions, and in other verticals, such as BankPro.
Transaction details
Regarding the transaction, FxPro Financial Services Ltd, a Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF), will transfer its clients to Capital Com Group Ltd, Capital.com’s European entity, which is also a CIF authorised and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). Capital.com said that the move reflects the company’s commitment to extend a platform built for better decisions to more clients across Europe, with every transition managed through clear communication, careful oversight and a long-term view of each client relationship.
Neither party disclosed the price paid by Capital.com.
Regulator approval
The transfer of FxPro clients to Capital.com follows CySEC’s approval of the related change of control and client eligibility. Only clients who meet Capital.com’s onboarding and risk standards will transfer, and each will be assessed under Capital Com Group Ltd’s own client categorisation, appropriateness, target market and KYC requirements.
Commenting on the announcement, Christoforos Soutzis, Europe CEO, Capital.com, said,
“This step will strengthen our reach in Europe and once the transfer completes, will bring a well-established client base into the environment we have built for everyone who uses Capital.com. That environment is designed for better decisions, with clear information, risk management tools, market insight and education available at the point where clients need them. Our focus is on giving the clients who will join us the same standards of service, protection and transparency our existing clients rely on, and on managing that transition with the same discipline and compliance controls we apply across the Group.”
The transfer will build on Capital.com’s presence in Europe, where it has served clients from Cyprus since 2017, and will be carried out within the same regulatory and client-protection framework that applies to its existing European clients.
The company’s growth remains primarily organic, complemented by targeted transactions where there is a credible regulated counterpart and where it is in clients’ interests.
