Swiss FINMA issues warning about spoofing calls
The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) is issuing a warning about phishing calls with a spoofed FINMA telephone number.
Spoofing is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to the caller ID display to disguise their identity.
In the current wave, the call appears on the display with the telephone number of the FINMA switchboard: 031 327 91 00. The callers are pretending to be FINMA employees. As a rule, FINMA does not contact private individuals, either by phone call or by email.
Recipients of calls purporting to be from FINMA are asked to always check the caller carefully.
FINMA recommends neither responding to such suspicious calls nor disclosing personal data in any way.
If in doubt, please contact FINMA via the email address questions@finma.ch and provide the regulator with details of the call purporting to be from FINMA.
