Saxo Bank updates OpenAPI for Excel
Multi-asset trading and investment specialist Saxo Bank has updated its OpenAPI for Excel, Saxo’s home-built Excel add-in that ports a broad range of OpenAPI functionality straight into Excel.
The latest version of the solution (Version 1.3.8) updates a Windows setting so Excel can use the latest available browser for displaying the login dialog. This resolves an issue whereby some users have received a warning regarding the usage of an unsupported version of Internet Explorer during login. The solution may require the user to run Excel once with elevated access rights.
To solve the issue it is necessary to make a change to the Windows registry. For resolving it using Excel (with Add-in version 1.3.8 or later):
- Make sure you have the latest version of the Excel Add-in installed.
- Open Excel in Admin mode.
- Once started, Excel will check the setting and update it if needed.
- Close Excel again.
- Now start Excel in non-Admin mode, and you should no longer see the warning messages.
Saxo regularly updates its range of APIs. In January 2021, Saxo Bank released Version 1.3.7 of its OpenAPI for Excel, featuring an updated add-in certificate. This new certificate will expire by January 2023.
OpenAPI for Excel provides you with the flexibility of Excel and VBA, coupled with the infrastructure that powers Saxo Bank’s trading platforms. The OpenAPI add-in works both as supplement to the SaxoTrader platform and as complete stand-alone solution. Use it to build custom workspaces right away with native VBA and Excel support, or download Excel snippets from the Tutorial Series, which break down all available functionality in bite-size components.
The Excel add-in supports most OpenAPI services and is available for all recent versions of Microsoft Excel (2010 and later).
