Electronic trading major Interactive Brokers is working on a new platform.

The broker is introducing IBKR Desktop, its new in-development platform built from the ground up using a more modern UI framework that provides simplified navigation. Designed to provide the perfect alternative for retail clients who prefer a more lightweight platform, IBKR Desktop includes many of the same features as TWS and also runs as a standalone desktop application.

The broker explains that it designed IBKR Desktop to be intuitive and easy to navigate. The interface as shown above displays:

• Orders & Trades badges. Hold your mouse over to see Open Orders and Today’s Trades.
• Expand/Contract icon: Click to expand the current view. In the above, click to expand the Portfolio Dashboard to see more values. Click again to return to default view.
• Tabs on the main window.
• The Left Side Icon panel.
• A right-click menu.
