SBI Ventures Europe, Speedinvest to establish JV
SBI Holdings, Inc., its wholly owned subsidiary SBI Ventures Europe GmbH, and Speedinvest GmbH have entered into a strategic partnership.
As part of the partnership, SBI Ventures Europe and Speedinvest have agreed to establish a joint venture (JV), to which each will contribute a 50% ownership interest.
The partnership combines Speedinvest’s pan-European investment platform with SBI Group’s global business network and long-term investment expertise, and the JV has been established to advance this collaboration.
The JV will facilitate participation in multiple venture capital funds managed by the Parties, including the Financial Infrastructure Fund (tentative name) managed by SBI Ventures Europe, through a feeder fund structure, subject to applicable laws and regulations in relevant jurisdictions.
Through this initiative, the SBI Group seeks to further strengthen its presence in Europe and expand its global venture capital investment ecosystem.
Speedinvest is a leading European venture capital platform with offices in six locations across Europe and a strong presence in key innovation hubs. The firm has over EUR 1.2 billion in assets under management and operates specialized investment teams focused on sectors such as fintech, climate and industrial technologies, digital health, deep tech, and software. Speedinvest supports portfolio companies from early to growth stages through capital provision as well as operational and network support.
SBI Ventures Europe serves as the core platform for the SBI Group’s venture capital activities in Europe and drives the Group’s long-term investment strategy in the region. Through initiatives such as the Financial Infrastructure Fund (tentative name), SBI Ventures Europe focuses on investments in key technologies and regulated sectors underpinning financial systems and digital infrastructure.
Yoshitaka Kitao, Representative Director, Chairman & President of SBI Holdings, commented:
“We are very pleased to establish a platform with Speedinvest to support promising entrepreneurs in Europe. This initiative further strengthens SBI Group’s commitment to the region.”
Oliver Holle, CEO of Speedinvest, commented:
“Europe is producing globally competitive technology companies in sectors critical to the coming decade, including financial infrastructure, climate, and deep tech. Through our partnership with SBI Ventures Europe and SBI Holdings, we aim to combine our established investment platform with SBI Group’s global reach to expand mutually beneficial opportunities for a broad range of market participants.”
Through the partnership, the companies will seek to expand cross-border capital flows between Japan and Europe’s startup ecosystems, while strengthening collaboration among portfolio companies and partners by leveraging Speedinvest’s local network and SBI Group’s global business platform.
