Clearstream warns of fraudulent scheme misusing its name
Clearstream today warned the public of fraudulent activities involving its intellectual property rights.
An alleged fraud scheme has been reported that uses a fake Account Opening Form which falsely creates the impression of being associated with Clearstream Holding AG. The scheme is exploiting the impression that the underlying contracts are legitimate offers. It is aimed to induce individuals to make increasing investments following the opening of such trading account and a rather small initial investment.
Clearstream does not offer trading accounts or financial services to private investors. Clearstream will never ask private investors to make payments or disclose personal information by app, email, phone or messenger service (for example, WhatsApp).
Clearstream recommends:
- Not making any payments or transmitting any data based on the fake forms
- Reporting fake forms to the competent law enforcement authorities.
The company commented:
“We are committed to protecting our brand and stakeholders and welcome all efforts to raise awareness but ask for a clear distinction between Clearstream and the fraudulent activities in order to avoid any misconception”.
