Clearstream empowers clients to execute tri-party repo transactions on flexible intraday basis
As of today, Clearstream empowers clients to execute tri-party repo transactions on a flexible intraday basis, marking a significant evolution in market liquidity management.
Clearstream, Deutsche Börse Group’s post-trade business, is the first to pioneer this capability on an industrial scale, offering market participants new levels of control over their daily funding across central and commercial bank money.
A convergence of market forces – including margin pressures, shifting interest rate environments, and the move towards accelerated settlement cycles like T+1 – is increasing the demand for sophisticated intraday funding and liquidity tools. Clearstream’s new offering evolves the established repo model by allowing clients to open and close repo trades at any point during the day. This provides market participants the flexibility to secure funding with precision down to the minute, creating significant cost efficiencies and optimizing collateral use without the need for an overnight commitment.
Marton Szigeti, Head of Collateral, Lending and Liquidity Solutions at Clearstream, says:
“As the industry adapts to changing financing needs, the pressure on our clients’ liquidity management is intensifying. Our new intraday tri-party repo service is a direct response to this evolution, empowering our clients with greater precision and control over their funding. It reinforces our commitment to providing innovative tools that boost market stability and efficiency in Europe and around the globe.”
Clearstream’s tri-party repo service offers clients access to diversified and deep pools of liquidity, having connected global market participants as a neutral intermediary for 30 years.
