FNG has learned that London/Sofia based online broker Trading 212 has hired Ricardo Soares as Country Manager Portugal.

Ricardo Soares, who is based in Lisbon, joins Trading 212 after spending the past three years as Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager in Portugal for UK neobank Revolut. He was previously Risk Management Advisor for Banco de Portugal. Ricardo also worked for five years at Portuguese financial regulator CMVM, as an Economist and later Team Leader of the real-time supervision unit.

Last year Trading 212 hired another Revolut alum, Christos Drakos, to head its Crypto operation in Cyprus.

Trading 212 is controlled by Bulgarian entrepreneurs Borislav Nedialkov and Ivan Ashminov. The company is run day-to-day by London based CEO Mukid Chowdhury.
