Exclusive: Saxo Bank PR head Steffen Wegner Mortensen departs for Liberal Alliance
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that another of the “old guard” has departed Saxo Bank. This time it is Saxo Bank’s longtime Head of PR and Public Affairs, Steffen Wegner Mortensen, who has left the Copenhagen based Retail FX and CFDs broker.
Mr. Mortensen acted as head of Saxo’s global communications department since mid 2016, and was also responsible for global strategic communications, media relations, internal communications and public affairs efforts. He was also considered a member of the Senior Management Team of the company. For many outside of Saxo, he was a main point of contact at the firm.
Steffen Wegner Mortensen has moved full time to Denmark’s Liberal Alliance political party, as the new head of the secretariat. The Liberal Alliance is a libertarian-leaning party, currently with four seats in the country’s 179 seat parliament.
Replacing Mr. Mortensen at Saxo Bank is Lasse Lilholt, who worked under Mr. Mortensen at the firm for the past two years – first as PR and Communications Manager, and later as head of PR Nordic, running Saxo’s PR and communications activities in the Nordics, CEE and MENA.
China’s Geely Group acquired control of Saxo Bank in 2018. We have reported that a number of Saxo Bank alumni have recently joined Lars Holst’s GCEX, a London based regulated crypto exchange. Mr. Holst was a senior Saxo Bank executive who departed to found CFH Group, later sold to Playtech.
