Michael Carty to leave Euroclear
Michael Carty, CEO of Euroclear UK and International, has decided to leave Euroclear to take up a new CEO role in a London based financial services firm.
Michael Carty became Chief Executive Officer of Euroclear UK & International in October 2020 is a member of the Euroclear’s Group Executive Committee. With 15 years’ experience at Euroclear, he was previously Chief Executive Officer of Euroclear Sweden, the group’s Swedish national CSD.
During his five-year tenure as CEO in Sweden, he helped Euroclear Sweden to successfully achieve its CSDR licence while strengthening its client proposition in a number of key business lines, such as its issuer offering. Additionally, he served on the Board of Directors of Euroclear Finland and Euroclear Sweden.
Before joining Euroclear, he was a founding member and Chief Technology Officer of a Brussels based start-up firm and prior to that he was based in France for a consulting firm.
Michael Carty holds a double major Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Computer Science as well as an MBA from Warwick University.
Chris Elms has been appointed as the interim CEO to provide continuity in the leadership of Euroclear UK & International. An internal and external search process has been launched to appoint a permanent successor to the role.
