Exclusive: IG Group senior comms exec Jon Laycock departs to Deutsche Bank
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that IG Group Senior Communications Advisor Jon Laycock left the online broker at the end of 2020, and in 2021 will be taking up the position of Head of Media Relations for IB, Corporate Bank & Private Wealth Management for Deutsche Bank Americas.
The move marks a return for Mr. Laycock to the corporate banking world. Before joining IG in 2019 he had spent more than a dozen years at Barclays, first within Barclays Investment Bank and later at the parent bank as Director, Head of Media Relations, IB Europe and Head of Comms, Private Bank & Overseas Services.
Jon Laycock noted to FNG on his time at IG:
“IG and especially June Felix have been so supportive in allowing me to handover and start my new role at DB this month. I’m proud of my time with IG and wish them all the best for the exciting times that lie ahead.”
Deutsche Bank’s Head of Corporate Comms Dan Hunter posted on social media:
Jon Laycock is joining Deutsche Bank Americas as regional Head of Media Relations for the Investment Bank, Corporate Bank and Private Wealth Management. Jon is one of those rare breed PRs that actually knows capital markets and banking inside out! Head and shoulders above the other candidates, I’m delighted to welcome Jon to #TeamDB.
The move marks the latest in a number of departures at IG Group in its communications and marketing departments. We has earlier reported that IG Group marketing exec Ben Tidman moved recently to TradingView. IG’s Global Head of Display Lawrence Jones left IG as of the end of the year. We also reported in December that Markets.com had hired former IG South Africa head Solomon Gounden, to head its own South Africa business.
