Exclusive: FX sales veteran Kevin Gillespie leaves Menai for Nomura’s Laser Digital
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that Kevin Gillespie, who has been working in the institutional FX industry for about three decades, has left crypto market maker Menai Financial to join Laser Digital. He will be responsible for FX Distribution at Laser Digital.
As was also exclusively reported by FNG at the time, Kevin Gillespie “went crypto” joining Menai last year in London to head up institutional sales. However Menai, which is based in New York and is headed by former Morgan Stanley Co-President Zoe Cruz, has met up with some problems this year and reportedly is shuttering its market-making business in Tokyo and London.
Kevin Gillespie began his FX industry career in the late 1980s as an FX trader at TD Bank. He eventually spent more than 10 years at Hotspot FX, where as VP FX Sales he helped see the company through its acquisition by BATS Global Markets. From 2019-2022 he worked at FX ECN Spotex as Director of Institutional Sales.
Laser Digital is a Nomura Group company, delivering scalable, robust opportunities across trading, asset management, and ventures in crypto.
