Equiti Capital UK names Liam Conway as new CEO
Equiti Capital UK, the London based, FCA-regulated entity of global broker Equiti Group, has announced the appointment of Liam Conway as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Liam Conway has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. He has led UK and global finance teams. Liam joined Equiti Capital UK in 2018 as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In December 2021, he took on the role of Deputy Group CFO for the global Equiti Group and led initiatives and drove improvements in operational efficiencies that resulted in substantial cost savings and revenue growth for the Group.
Prior to joining Equiti Capital, Liam served as the UK Finance Director for Intercontinental Exchange Inc (ICE), a company that operates eleven exchanges (including the New York Stock Exchange) and seven clearing houses.
In his new role as CEO for Equiti Capital UK, Liam will work closely with the company’s management team, Equiti Capital’s UK board, as well as the Equiti Group’s global executive leadership team, to develop and execute Equiti Capital UK’s strategic objectives and drive its growth strategy.
Prior to this appointment, Paul Webb, Equiti Group’s COO, had been acting as Interim CEO of Equiti Capital since earlier this year replacing Nigel Holmes, who has moved to Cyprus to become Executive Director of Equiti Global Markets Ltd, the group’s new CySEC-licensed entity. Mr. Holmes served as Interim CEO of Equiti UK for two years following a 2021 restructuring which led to then-CEO Brian Myers’ move to Dubai to become CEO of Equiti Brokerage (Seychelles) and the Chief Commercial Officer for Equiti Group.
Equiti Group CEO, Iskandar Najjar, said:
“We are very pleased Liam has accepted the role of CEO for Equiti Capital. He brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in delivering solid results for Equiti.
“We believe that his natural leadership skills will be instrumental in driving Equiti Capital’s growth strategy and delivering further value to our clients and the wider business, and taking advantage of the significant opportunities ahead.”
Commenting on his new appointment, Liam said:
“I am excited to lead Equiti Capital at this stage of its transformational growth. With its strong reputation and talented team that has an innovative mindset, Equiti Capital is well-positioned to capture further market share. I very much look forward to working with the teams and taking the company to the next level.”
Liam holds a BA (Hons) in Economics and Management Studies degree from Leeds University in the UK. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant certified by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. In 2021 Liam completed the Strategic Leader of the Future Programme at the London Business School.
