Cboe Futures Exchange to provide “Kill Switch” functionality via Secure Web API
Effective June 13, 2021, Cboe Futures Exchange, LLC (CFE) will begin providing “Kill Switch” functionality via the Secure Web API. Two new parameters, “blockNewOrders” and “cancelOpenOrders” will be accessible under the Port Controls service.
On the effective date, the following parameters will be enabled for use in the CFE Secure Web API. These parameters can be accessed using the Port Controls service with the setClient command.
These parameters will not persist between trading days. To reverse blockNewOrders = ‘1’ within the same trading day, contact the CFE Trade Desk. Unblocking new orders within the same trading day will not be available via the API.
The Kill Switch functionality will be available to web portal accounts that have both a Secure Web API key and the Kill Switch privilege. A Secure Web API key can be obtained by contacting the CFE Trade Desk. The Kill Switch privilege will need to be granted by your firm’s Account Administrator through the User Management application.
This functionality will be available to test in the CFE Secure Web API certification environment on June 1, 2021 for certification web portal accounts with both a Secure Web API key and the Kill Switch privilege.
