Cboe Futures Exchange to add nanosecond transaction time resolution to market data and order entry
Effective trade date August 31, 2026, Cboe Futures Exchange, LLC (CFE) will update TransactTime (FIX Tag 60), OrigTime (FIX Tag 42), and SendingTime (FIX Tag 52) to allow the GMT date-time to be available in nanosecond precision transaction time in all order entry protocols and in the market data feeds listed below.
Additionally, a new “Send Nanoseconds” FIX port attribute will be added to allow customers to optionally select nanosecond transaction times.
Upon the effective date, TransactTime (60), OrigTime (42), and SendingTime (52) will be populated with nanosecond precision.
A new “Send Nanoseconds” port attribute will be added to FIX, FIX Drop, ODrop, and FIX Purge ports to allow for the return of nanosecond transaction times. The “Send Nanoseconds” port attribute will be set to false by default. Nanosecond precision transaction times will automatically be sent on BOE, BOE Quote, and BOE Purge ports. BOE users cannot opt out of the automatic nanosecond precision transaction time notifications.
CFE Multicast market data TOP and PITCH feeds, in addition to trade data and timestamping service files, will also be updated to provide nanoseconds.
For example, a nanosecond time of 1,737,580,407,123,456,789 (Wednesday, January 22, 2025 9:13:27.123456789) will return value = 123456789.
