Interactive Brokers starts rollout of cryptocurrency trading
Online trading major Interactive Brokers is expanding its offering of trading instruments.
Now, clients of the broker can trade popular cryptocurriencies like BTC (Bitcoin), ETH (Ethereum), LTC (Litecoin), and BCH (Bitcoin Cash) from the TWS platform or via the IBKR mobile app.
Cryptocurrency trading is made available via Paxos Trust.
This feature is currently in beta, and is being rolled out gradually to eligible clients. It is now available to US clients with individual or joint accounts, expanding to more clients over time. Traders can apply for trading permissions in Client Portal.
Speaking of Interactive Brokers’ cryptocurrency offering, let’s note that the company is already offering traders access to CME Micro Bitcoin Futures (MBT).
Back when the contract was launched, Steven Sanders, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Product Development at Interactive Brokers, said:
“Cryptocurrency has never been more popular than it is today, and we are really happy to support the launch of the Micro Bitcoin futures contract. This smaller sized contract will enable more of our sophisticated, individual clients to participate in the market, and will allow our institutional clients to more precisely manage their bitcoin exposure.”
