FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that leading crypto exchange operator Bybit has expanded the range of services it can offer in the EU, after receiving effective today (August 4, 2026) a new Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from Austrian financial regulator FMA.

Dubai based Bybit had earlier opened its European headquarters in Vienna, following the receipt of an Austria FMA MiCAR (crypto) license.

Bybit Payments GmbH is now authorised to issue electronic money. In addition, the company is also authorised in to provide the following payment services:

• incoming payment business
• outgoing payment business
• payment business
• issuing and acquiring

The EMI license will allow Bybit to issue digital money, provide IBAN accounts, and process payments across the EU through passporting.

We had reported last year that the company was launching Bybit TradFi, as part of a wave of crypto exchanges adding products beyond digital assets, such as FX and CFDs trading.
