Coinbase receives regulatory approval to launch in Argentina
Coinbase is expanding its global reach with the launch of its platform in Argentina.
Coinbase has secured a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) registration from Argentina’s National Securities Commission (CNV), allowing it to operate within the country’s legal framework for virtual assets.
Coinbase has tapped Matías Alberti to spearhead its operations in Argentina. Matías, who has extensive experience in fintech with companies like Buenbit and Clara, will lead the efforts to expand Coinbase’s presence in one of the most dynamic crypto markets in the world.
“Matías brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the local market. We’re confident in his leadership as we work to bring crypto services to millions of Argentinians,” added Fabio Plein, Director for the Americas at Coinbase.
“Economic freedom is a cornerstone of prosperity, and we are proud to bring secure, transparent, and reliable crypto services to Argentina,” said Mr Plein. “For many Argentinians, crypto isn’t just an investment, it’s a necessity for regaining control over their financial futures.”
A key element of Coinbase’s approach in Argentina is its focus on education. To help users fully understand and make the most of the benefits of cryptocurrency, Coinbase will launch local educational initiatives. By fostering financial literacy, Coinbase aims to give users the knowledge they need to navigate the crypto ecosystem with confidence.
