Leading Swiss online trading firm Swissquote has further expanded its Themes Trading lineup via the addition of Impact Investing.

Swissquote’s Impact certificate is positioned to benefit not only traders’ personal wealth, but the greater good. With Swissquote Impact certificate, investors donate to projects that directly help individuals and local communities.

How does it work? In addition to expected overall investment growth, the certificate collects substantial dividends from quality stocks. Those dividends are then split in half, and 50% is contributed to the funding goals of real-world impact projects. Impact certificate donates to real project, to affect real change.

Companies involved with controversial weapons or tobacco, deriving revenues from thermal coal or oil sectors and companies that are not in compliance with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) principles are excluded from the portfolio.

The projects receiving financial support are selected by Swissquote in collaboration with investors. Once the funding goal of the chosen project is complete, a new project is sourced, creating a continuous positive loop.

Swissquote’s first project will be in partnership with Solafrica: a Swiss non-profit organisation promoting solar energy in economically disadvantaged regions. This project will provide solar power to a health care center in a remote area of Burkina Faso.

Themes Trading is Swissquote’s collection of thematic portfolios, which allow traders not to buy individual stocks but assortments of stocks. Investors opting for this thematic investment are looking at what lies ahead and can therefore position their portfolio for faster growth and higher returns.

Swissquote introduced Themes Trading in September 2015. Back then, the service offered an initial set of 30 diverse themes, including global electric, cyber security, Greek recovery and fitness trends. The service offers investors to find opportunities in thematic investing, coupled with the highest possible transparency.

Swissquote has been regularly expanding its themes trading lineup. Recent additions include the Leveraged Cash Dividends certificate, the Semiconductor Industry Portfolio and Logistics.
